Greek Wedding Blueprint? Taylor Swift & Travis Spark Marriage Frenzy after stealing the show at a friend’s Athens nuptials
From the Eras Tour to the Acropolis: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce danced at a lavish Greek wedding—is theirs next?
ATHENS — Church bells were ringing in Athens on Sunday morning, because there are lots of churches in Athens. But was the sound somehow symbolic?
Taylor Swift has more power than many presidents (not to mention a much better wardrobe) so there’s no telling what kind of magic the pop star can put in motion when she’s got her mind set on it. We know that she and beau Travis Kelce are in Athens for a wedding.
But the high-voltage visit of America’s most paparazzi-loved couple can’t simply be seen in the context of a casual drop in to see Travis's buddy get hitched alone.
Consider that a well-traveled colleague of ours just got back from Mykonos.
Who goes to Mykonos in May, you ask? Anybody who can — while temperatures are still cool, the summer travel season in Greece has begun.
So we asked a well-placed source in New York if Taylor Swift, who recently posted on social media that “your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” might be scoping out wedding venues whilst in Greece?
“Absolutely,” our source (who once co-anchored The Gossip Table) said.
Because we know the New York tabloids have been bouncing around the date of July 3 as the date for a Swift-Kelce wedding in Gotham, but for us that’s giving “decoy date.” We’re willing to bet our best bottle of ouzo that Swift’s hellbent on getting married abroad.
Based on our knowledge of the kinds of properties Taylor likes and our own site inspections, we’ve compiled a list of the most likely spots where the pop nuptials might one day take place. Here’s to filling in that “blank space” on the pop superstar’s calendar😉:
Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens
Privacy & Access: The hotel features a helipad and private beaches, allowing guests to arrive and celebrate away from the public eye.
Grand Venues: It offers multiple ballrooms and seaside terraces that can accommodate the “Eras”-level guest list Taylor might invite.
We have it on good authority that President Obama — he of the meaningless new library in Chicago — stayed here once, shutting himself away in one of the famous bungalows (we wish Barack could be a little bit more of a party animal sometimes, but sadly that’s not who he is).
Amanzoe is often cited as one of the most exclusive resorts in the world, Amanzoe Click to open side panel for more information in Porto Heli provides a hilltop sanctuary inspired by classical Greek architecture.
Modern Acropolis: The property is designed with marble colonnades and reflecting pools, offering a “fairytale” backdrop fitting for Taylor’s romantic aesthetic.
Total Seclusion: Its location is notoriously difficult for paparazzi to access — though we found it easy enough to arrange a tour — and the sprawling villas come with private chefs and absolute anonymity.
Frankly though we don’t think it’s stylish enough for Swift.
Porto Zante Villas & Spa
Frequently dubbed “Europe’s most private resort,” this Zakynthos property is a favorite for A-listers who want to disappear completely.
We interviewed Porto Zante’s owner exclusively recently (more on that later). For now, note that it’s got:
VVIP Security: The resort consists of world-class villas with private heated pools and personal beach areas, often used by royals and presidents.
Imperial Living: The Imperial Spa Villa is essentially a private estate within the resort, perfect for a high-security bridal suite.
The formerly young but ever-talented pop singer Kylie Minogue is a fan of the splendid Porte Zante and is rumored to not be able to get it out of her head.
The runner-up: Canaves Epitome
While Santorini is a popular destination (some say too popular), Canaves Epitome in Oia offers a rare combination of caldera views and space that many cliffside hotels lack.
Sunset Backdrop: Situated above the fishing village of Ammoudi, it provides the quintessential Santorini sunset without the tourist crowds.
Sophisticated Design: The architecture is a moody, modern take on Cycladic style, featuring dark volcanic stone and infinity pools that merge with the horizon.
